Northern California Classic Results
It’s a wrap on the WSFA’s 2023 Northern California Classic!
First and foremost, we’d like to thank Jim Quick, CJF for bringing his wealth of knowledge and experience to this contest. Acting as both judge and clinician, he went above and beyond to ensure that contestants and attendees alike got to leave this event with new skills and ideas to apply both in the forge and under the horse. His contribution to this event was invaluable!
We had a great turnout with a total of 26 competitors: contests took place all day Thursday May 18th, and all morning Friday May 19th. On may 20th, a morning clinic was followed by lunch and marketplace. We’d like to thank all the vendors for donating their precious time and industry knowledge, and of course for all the freebies and product samples that were generously gifted to attendees. The three-day event concluded with a final afternoon clinic, a banquet, a fundraising auction featuring beautifully handcrafted items and tools, and finally an awards ceremony.
The overall winners were:
Division 1: Heidi Bugg
Division 2: Ben Crott
Division 3: Brian Bonnel
Two-Man Draft: Tony Mendoza and John Sagaria
Eagle Eye: Justin Rathert
A huge congratulations to them! We hope that their success will not only reflect their individual skills and dedication to the trade, but also serve as inspiration to other farriers to come push their boundaries and enjoy some friendly competition at next year’s NCC!
Finally, we’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to the tireless efforts of the WSFA members who made this year’s event possible.
We are looking forward to seeing you in 2024!
